THE COURSE

A DONALD ROSS DESIGN

The 3,132- yard course features bent grass greens, tees, and fairways that still reflect the design of renowned golf course architect Donald Ross. Originally constructed in 1921 and improved by Ross in 1925-26, the course has undergone many improvements to reach its current state. The Athens Country Club has features stands of pine trees, attractive landscaping, and irrigation ponds that enhance the golfing experience. The course is sloped with tight fairways that reward correct shot placement. The greens run fast and true. It is a golf course that will truly challenge the skills of golfers of all ability levels.

Watered greens, tees, and fairways keep the course lush through the hottest summer. Most greens are surrounded by two or three sand bunkers and the natural rolling terrain will allow you to enjoy a splendid Athens County backdrop.

For its members, the Athens Country Club features a regular menu of salads, burgers, sandwiches and steak throughout the week (Tues.-Sun.) with an ever-changing special menu of fresh selections on Friday and Saturday nights. Dining-only memberships are available. Contact us to set up a visit and try our food.
